Spending the holidays at work isn’t anyone’s favorite way to celebrate, especially when work takes you on the road, far away from your friends and family. However, truckers all over the world are making sure your deliveries get in on time, instead of celebrating at home. We know it can be hard, so we want to share a few tips on making spending holidays on the road just a little bit easier for drivers.
Don’t let the calendar control your festivities!
Just because Christmas falls on the 25th of December and New years falls on the 31st, doesn’t mean that’s when you HAVE to celebrate! If you’re not home on a day you usually celebrate a holiday on, just simply reschedule your dinner or party. We all know that the most important part of the holidays is spending time with your loved ones, so just because you’re not home on a certain date doesn’t mean you have to miss out on spending time with your family and friends.
Make use of today’s technology!
Social media and modern technology can make being at the table from thousands of miles away possible. Skype, Facetime, and other live video chatting options can take you from the cab of your truck to the head of the table in seconds.
Find some company on the road!
Spending the holidays on the road can feel lonely, but trust us, you’re not the only driver out there on the road or at the truck stop. Instead of dining alone, make friends with the other drivers and share a meal or conversation. A little kindness can go a long way, especially during the holidays.
